Funding received (in INR): 1500000 The society is the only non-government organization in Jharkhand that implemented this project at Dhanbad in three blocks namely Nirsa, Gobindpur and Baliapur of Dhanbad district in 2002. The project was implemented with aim to continuously supply safe and clean drinking water, raise awareness about health and sanitation among villagers and protect people from water borne diseases. The first achievement under this project was the adequate social mobilization for the implementation of physical activities. Such mobilizations lead to institution building such as formation of Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSC). The organization carried out community sensitization by organizing village contact drives through orientation, group discussion, cultural events, and house to house contacts. Construction of 111 low cost wells, Installation and renovation of hand pumps were successfully completed under the project. Construction of low cost toilets, friendly toilets and soak pits were undertaken in Giridih under Total Sanitation Campaign.

Funding received (in INR) Infrastructure The project is supported by Ministry of HRD & DOEACC society, Ministry of IT, Govt. of India. The society is one among five leading NGOs in Jharkhand which are running exclusive CABAMDTP center at Dhanbad with an aim to promote Computer literacy. Till date about 200 students have successfully completed the course in “Diploma in Computer Application & Multilingual DTP” and have been well paced in different companies.

IEC Programs under CSR duties of Maithon Power Ltd.

he society has successfully completed IEC programs for vocational training under CSR duties of Maithon Power Ltd., a collaboration of DVC & Tata power Ltd. We have undertaken IEC and vocational training programs for those displaced at Maithon .The Organization organized IEC programs at Maithon especially for women and rural youths. The objective of training was to motivate youths and women to take up vocational training and upgrade their skill and add to their family income.

Funding received (in INR) - 100000 The project was supported by Ministry of Social welfare, Govt of India and Govt. of Bihar. Under this project Ten Women Awareness camps were organized in district Dhanbad. Dhanbad bock-1, Gobindpur block-2, Baliapur block-2, Nirsa block-5. Many women and students who participated in the camp were reminded of their rights and status in the society besides the importance of women education. On the occasion the women folk of the village were made aware about the legal rights of the women, health-care, child labour and women education.

one Day Seminar on Women Atrocities Awareness at Ranchi 2003-04

The program was sponsored by Central Social Welfare Board, Lucknow .Focus was on discrimination against women, women’s rights and opportunities. The chief guest Ms. Manjari Jahuar, IG, Ranchi voiced against social evils like female foeticide, dowry deaths, witchcraft and violence against women

Aids Awareness programsAIDS awareness camps were organized in different parts of Giridih by the society. Intensive AIDS awareness campaign was run throughout in Vishnugarh block of Hazaribag to make people aware of risks of AIDS.

JAN SHIKSHAN SANSTHAN BOKARO

We are successfully running Jan Shikshan Sansthan at Bokaro allotted to our society in 2003 under JSS Scheme by Ministry of HRD, Govt of India. There are about 273 JSSs all over India, out of which 5 are in Jharkhand –Dhanbad, Bokaro, Jamshedpur, Ranchi and Hazaribagh. We are the parent organization for JSS Bokaro which is involved in providing literacy linked Vocational training in both engineering and non-engineering courses for the underprivileged sections of society of district Bokaro. In the last 13 years the organization has provided training to about 22000 people. The organization provides skill development and employment generation training to reduce the level of poverty. Unemployed rural and semi-urban youths mainly from dalits, tribal, minority groups and women have been supported for short to medium and long-term training sessions on specific vocation skills to promote livelihood opportunities.
